This information is from the book, "History of Tillman County (OK), Volume II", a 1978 publication of the Tillman county Historical Society, page 259, and is used with their consent.

In an effort to include all Tillman County Vets, we add this name, W. R. Brown, Jr.

"W. R. Brown, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Brown, was killed near Rome, Italy, on the night of March 16, 1944. A memorial service paid tribute to him and to the fact that he sacrificed his life in an attempt to save the life of another. The Grandfield Legion Post 175 added Brown's name, making it the Wade-Brown Post. Later the post added Vines for Thomas Franlin Vines, Jr. (Korean War casualty)"

Added information:

"World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing- State of Oklahoma", lists the name 1 Lt. Walter R Brown as KIA (killed in action). His Army Serial Number 01304608.
