T/Sgt. Herbert D. Wooten, son of H. D. Wooten, attended Emerson School; husband of the former Della Mae Mitchel.  Entered Air Corps in 1942, trained in California; served in England, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium and Poland; was wounded in action in 1943.  Awarded DFC, the Purple Heart, Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, two Bronze Stars, Am. Theatre Ribbon, ETO Ribbon.
