GM 2/c Merle G. Snelling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orance C. Snelling, graduated from Tipton High School; husband of the former Bernella Jean Wells.  Entered Navy, trained in San Diego, San Bruno, Cal.; served in England, Russia, Scotland, Africa, Egypt, S. America, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, Alaska; was wounded in Saipan in June, 1944; is now on duty in San Diego, Cal.  Awarded Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, ETO Ribbon with one Battle Star, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with fifteen Battle Stars, Philippine Lib. Ribbon with one Battle Star, Am. Defense Ribbon, Am. Theatre Ribbon, Pres. Unit Citation, Letter of Commendation.
